Miss Pac-Man and My New Addiction
Updated June 26, 2025 8:10 AM
What video game were you addicted to growing up?
There's no video game I played more in my life than Miss Pac-Man. I was addicted to that thing. And you know what? I think I'm catching the same kind of addiction again--only this time, it's not a game. It's book writing, book formatting, and book cover designing... and I'm loving it.
If you remember playing Miss Pac-Man as a teenager, then let's be honest--you probably can't hydrate like you used to either. Times have changed. But some things stay the same, especially when it comes to obsession.
Now, like I said before, this blog isn't just for serious topics. This is my creative space. My corner of the internet to brainstorm, to reflect, to share "de tout et de rien," like my good friend Carl Fombrun used to say.
If you lived in South Florida in the early 2000s and tuned into Radio Carnaval 1020 AM, you probably remember Carl's Corner. Well, this blog is becoming my version of that--a space where I talk freely, creatively, and without filters.
It also marks a big shift in my life. I'm moving from writing blogs and web content to actually writing and publishing books. And somehow, I find myself comparing the process to that old-school video game feeling--pure obsession.
When I was a kid and a new video game came out, I'd play it from morning until I couldn't keep my eyes open. Guess what? That's happening again--except now I'm in my 50s, and the joystick has been replaced by a laptop and a chair I barely left yesterday from morning till 2:00 a.m.
How's that for addiction?
Put It In The Bank - A Book by SP Woodring
If you want to see where this creative journey really began, check out my first book, Put It In The Bank. It's full of the same real talk, life lessons, and Haitian soul I'm pouring into every page.
And no--I'm not about to tell you everything I was working on in this one post. That's the beauty of this journey. There's another article coming. Then another one.
Stick around.
